The Least of These
There’s a man
With nothing to eat
With shame in his voice
He asks will you feed me?
There’s a woman
With nothing of worth
And from her cross she cries
I thirst
There’s a man
That I don’t know
He’s got nowhere to go, He asks
Can I come to your home?
There’s a woman
Who wears her pain
But has no clothes and asks
Will you bear my chains?
Oh I’m not fed
Until you eat
And I’m not quenched
Until you drink
And I can’t breath
Until you can breath
When will we learn that
We’re all the least of these?
We’re all the least of these
There’s a woman
In her sorrow confined
She can’t seem to find her way out
Will you give her your time?
There’s a man
Who committed a crime
He’s already been condemned
But will you be kind?
That’s my sister
How did I miss her?
She said nobody listened
When I was the victim
That’s my brother
Stuck under a knee
Crying out for his mama
Saying I can’t breath
Oh I’m not fed
Until you eat
And I’m not quenched
Until you drink
And I can’t breath
Until you can breath
When will we learn that
We’re all the least of these?
We’re all the least of these
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat,
I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink,
I was a stranger and you invited me in,
I needed clothes and you clothed me,
I was sick and you looked after me,
I was in prison and you came to visit me.
Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did it to me.
The best I've heard so far. Kudos.
